Lewis Capaldi
International superstar Lewis Capaldi is unveiling a stunning new piano-driven song, “Pointless,” the second single from his forthcoming album “Broken By Desire To Be Heavenly Sent,” set for release May 19, 2023 via EMI Records.
Lewis returned in the eye of a storm in September, with the single "Forget Me" rocketing straight to the top of the UK charts. It was their third #1 in the UK, quickly certified gold and soon adding over 100 million streams worldwide. This year, only four other artists managed to take a single to # 1 on the chart in the first week; Lewis joined Harry Styles, Taylor Swift, Sam Smith and British rapper Dave in this select club.
Tickets for their upcoming UK tour (in 2023) sold out in seconds, and all tickets for shows in other countries were also sold out in record time. Lewis was recently crowned King Of Streaming after his global hit “Someone You Loved” became the most streamed song on UK streaming platforms of ALL TIME.
“Pointless” arrives as one of the first compositions of the new album. It was written on the first day of sessions with Steve Mac and Johnny McDaid of Snow Patrol. They were working on a song ("which ended up not being approved") when Lewis' partners mentioned a verse they had previously started writing with Ed Sheeran.
“Ed had that lyric 'I bring her coffee in the morning, she brings me inner peace,'” recalls Lewis, quoting the opening line. other phrases from that opening sounded good.” Inspired, Lewis set to work, writing a chorus and middle section.By the end of the day, “Pointless” was complete.
