PPop (Philippine Pop) is gaining increasing recognition on the international music scene, and 2024 has been a landmark year for Filipino groups. Among the year’s biggest achievements were their wins at the 2024 BreakTudo Awards, one of Brazil’s most prominent awards celebrating music, entertainment, and pop culture.
Acknowledging this historic milestone, the House of Representatives of the Philippines introduced House Resolution No. 2153, honoring Filipino artists for the global impact they are making with their music. The resolution specifically highlights the recognition of BINI, SB19, and BGYO at the BreakTudo Awards, emphasizing the significance of their wins in elevating the country’s music on the international stage.
BreakTudo Awards 2024 Wins:
BINI won International New Artist and International Music Video for Cherry On Top.
SB19 took home Best International Male Group and was also nominated for International Music Video with Moonlight
BGYO won Song By New International Artist with Patintero.
Beyond the BreakTudo Awards, Filipino groups have been making waves in global award shows. In 2021, SB19 made history as the first Filipino group to be nominated at the Billboard Music Awards in the Top Social Artist category. Meanwhile, in 2024, BINI saw significant growth and won Best Asian Artist at another major international awards show.
