MTV announced on Monday (18) that singer Ricky Martin will be the first artist in history to receive the special Latin Icon Award at the 2025 MTV Video Music Awards. In addition to the tribute, the Latin superstar is also confirmed as one of the night’s musical performers.
“Thrilled to be honoring @ricky_martin with the first ever 2025 #VMAs Latin Icon Award! ❤️,” wrote the official VMA Instagram account, celebrating the announcement.
Alongside Ricky, other performers already confirmed for the show include Alex Warren, J Balvin & DJ Snake, Sabrina Carpenter, and Sombr.
The 2025 MTV Video Music Awards will take place on September 7 at the UBS Arena in Elmont, New York. For the first time, the show will be broadcast simultaneously on MTV, CBS, and the streaming platform Paramount+. The ceremony will be hosted by rapper LL Cool J.
