The Favors (FINNEAS & Ashe) Release New Single and Music Video “The Hudson”

The Flavors | Alex G Harper

The Favors, the duo comprised of FINNEAS and Ashe, follow up their timeless debut single “The Little Mess You Made” and the announcement of their highly anticipated debut album The Dream (set for release on September 19) with the new track “The Hudson.”

Ashe opens the first verse over a soft piano, setting the scene: “The trees were bare and naked, and so were we—two old strangers sharing really personal things.” Her airy, emotional vocals heighten the nostalgia of a fleeting moment, while FINNEAS enters with warm harmonies: “All I’ve ever known is gone. I’ve got nothing but you to lose.” The track builds with steady percussion, layered harmonies, and a stirring guitar solo, evoking a nostalgic, timeless approach as the duo recalls an intense yet fleeting relationship unfolding across familiar New York City backdrops.

Directed by Alex Lockett, the official music video captures the retro inspiration and emotional weight of the song, featuring riverside scenes of the duo in a nostalgic, old-film aesthetic. Black-and-white visuals blend with melancholic color shots that build tension as the track progresses.

“Part of the band’s identity is that these characters are singing about an experience to each other,” says FINNEAS about the song. “It’s very much a musical theater kind of thing, and that rarely happens in pop. You can imagine two people in an apartment overlooking the Hudson, singing about the same moment.”

Longtime friends and collaborators, FINNEAS — the Grammy-winning singer, songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, and producer — and multi-platinum artist Ashe first captured listeners in 2019 with the breakout hit “Moral of the Story”, followed by “Till Forever Falls Apart” in 2021. “The Hudson” follows the duo’s debut single as The Favors, “The Little Mess You Made.”

The duo’s debut album, The Dream, is set to arrive September 19 via Darkroom Records.

Deeply inspired by the golden era of Laurel Canyon, The Favors’ music feels equally suited for a last slow dance in a smoky bar in 1977 or a sunset set on the Coachella stage in 2027. The Dream carries the intimate storytelling and sun-drenched melancholy of artists like The Mamas and the Papas, Carole King, Crosby, Stills & Nash, Simon & Garfunkel, and Fleetwood Mac — all filtered through a cinematic lens that stretches from coast to coast. Written and recorded primarily in Nashville (where Ashe resides) and Los Angeles (FINNEAS’ hometown), The Dream is a free-spirited project that revives the warmth and groove of ‘70s pop with sharp songwriting, lush harmonies, and a distinctly modern touch.

“This is the kind of album every artist dreams of making,” Ashe says with a smile. “People don’t usually sing together while recording anymore, but this was so romantic and fun.” FINNEAS adds, “This is truly a long-play album in the most classic sense. The idea is you can have friends over, cook something, and just let the record spin from start to finish on vinyl.” Ashe concludes, “I want you to feel warm, cozy, and heartbroken — all at once.”
